What is in your mind ?

Our mind is the least used and the most powerful organ of our body. Often people talk of how their life's are not going the way they wish it to and if they look in to the reason it is often connected with their own mindset.

Our mind has the capacity to make our wildest desires in to our reality all we need to do is believe it already exists. However most of us do the exact opposite we sit and brood and try to find reasons for why not rather than why it should.

We just need to make a shift in our mind from being a non believer in to a believer after all that is the difference between the scientists or inventors who changed our worlds and the others who had already decided against anything like that ever being possible.

Am not saying doing so is a piece of cake nor am I saying it is impossible. It is a constant process that we have to keep on track with and over a period of time it will become a part of us constantly keeping us on the path of positivity.

There are numerous things and quite a few people who I personally have issues with but sitting and wailing over it will only make my life filled with more bitterness or sorrow. Instead just move on with positivity in mind and with good work along your path of life.

Positively visualizing the change does work miracles it can really amaze you in the beginning and over a period of time you get used to all the miracles that keep happening around you. Try it out with the smallest things in your life Visualize positively the change or occurrence of any situation or thing and believe in it as it already has and trust me it will. I am sure some are thinking that am teaching some magic trick here and they will be able to make their favorite food or thing appear out of thin air. Well that is not going to happen. However Positive Visualization with total belief can make the impossible possible and the unrealistic very realistic. All it needs is the mind to belief in it and the universe shall take the due course to make it our reality. Many times the real issue is that we are so confused as to what we truly wish or desire that our mind sends out confused signals making our life's like a merry go round where we get trapped in this circle which makes us feel we are moving ahead but are actually just moving in circles. The most important thing to do is sit calmly on your own and understand what you truly wish or desire. Spend time with yourself alone regularly, initially you will get restless and the chatter of the mind may increase manifold when you try to sit quietly. Over a period of time the chatter of the mind will reduce the body and mind will feel more calm and at peace being alone by itself. Once you reach this stage you will be able to understand with clarity what you truly desire or wish for from your life or from any situation in life.

There is nothing better in life than knowing what you really desire or wish for.
Once you know what you truly wish for or which direction you wish your life to move in then you just need to change your beliefs and mindset fine tuning them with positivity and your desires shall become your reality.
Am not just saying all this but have experienced it in my life over and over. It has been quite a few years since I stumbled upon this and every moment has been a miracle ever since. It is so simple that it can truly change the way you look at life itself. You can change your health, your relations with people and so on. All you need to do is believe in your positive visualizations like they are already taking place and the sky is the limit for all of us.

There will be times when we may like to have the cake and eat it as well. These are the times that test us in life as deciding on either side will make us upset about it as well as the people connected with the decision however we need to take a stand and am sure if we are positively inclined we will take the right step. It may seem wrong at the moment to the people around us but when we are able to sit quietly with ourselves daily then our decisions are filled with more clarity and positivity and so they will be more inclined to being what truly needs to be done.

Life is a walk along a path, a path if chosen in sync with our souls calling can truly make life an experience of a life time.  The choice is ours, our life's are the result of our THOUGHTS.

Where are we heading?

Seeing the way the world is today often makes me wonder that either am from some other era itself or have got too old in the ways of my mind in comparison to the rapidly evolving youth today. Every where you look today you see the young rebelling, taking things for granted, expecting and demanding things as if it is their birth right, having super high egos, attitude issues, excessive rage and anger, disillusioned from the reality of life, low levels of self - respect and lots more. I am not saying all of the youth are like that but yes majority of them are. It is sad to see the youth like this today and if this what we call evolution or progress well then we are all seated up for a scary roller coaster ride up ahead in the near future.

Am personally not that old nor do I think am a store house of wisdom. However my ride through life till now has been a colour full one and each experience has taught me a lot.

Where are we heading? The youth are literally living lives like puppets. From birth the pressure that is mounted on them by their parents and society far exceeds what we all had in our youth. So it is difficult to blame them completely for all the characteristics I mentioned above. May be the way society is today it nurtures such characteristics in the youth. I personally think you can not blame one person. We all are responsible for the way things are but instead of raising our frustration levels or being ready to pounce at a drop of a pin at anything we all need to be calm. By creating animosity and showing rage is not the solution. What needs to be done is to come together to resolve issues and not create more by being stubborn or because of our egos.

Where are the value systems ? Where is the mutual respect? Where is the humanity within us all?

These all seem like a fairy tale in today's world. Yes we do see people respecting others who are in power because they are in power or we see people respecting others till they have to get some work done from them. We also do see shades of humanity but often it has its own tinge of selfishness attached to it.

Yes I totally agree the value systems, mutual respect and humanity is still alive and there are many who live by them but sadly the numbers of these humans is very few in comparison to the evolved puppets of today. There still are numerous people that I see daily who by their selfless acts and small gestures bring smiles to many. Hope I knew how to clone them so we could have more of them on Earth.
Well am not a pessimist but the fact is the fact and not accepting it or speaking about it is the first sign of people not wanting to change.

It seems like an epidemic that is widely spreading all over the world and even among the older population. Our fast paced life's and the constant race with time to achieve our goals is really having an enormous effect on all of us at a psychological level. People have become detached from emotion. When I say emotion I do not mean the emotional bond that we all have for our immediate family members and loved ones. When I speak of emotion I am referring to the condition of being human. The concern for a fellow human being irrespective of who he/ she is or irrespective of even knowing the person. The word compassion seems to only exist in dictionaries and like an antique is rarely visible among our vast and growing evolved population of the world.

As a person am very positive and always try to see the good in another person and if they are my student then I even try to fine tune them cleansing any negativity I sense in them. Well some may wonder who made me the judge of what is wrong or right. Well no one did and nor am I Mr. Right. I have my own flaws and dark side too well we all do lets face it. However am open to change and am ready to grow and learn from my mistakes.
I do not like to write long posts as it tends to get boring. I would like to end it with a thought for all of us to ponder on -

Memory strays back a decade.

I started teaching in Hyderabad in the year 2001. At that time I was affiliated to my instructors organization. My instructor is a wonderful teacher and even more wonderful a human being. He had given me a cd called Tribute to Steven Seagal some time in the year 2003. I usually try to catch the smallest details and phrases when watching training cd's because I believe that even a simple sentence spoken by a master if rightly understood or applied can have a massive impact on your training and mindset.

Most people do not know that the famous Hollywood action star Sensei Steven Seagal is a high ranking Aikido teacher. The last I heard was that he is a 7th Dan Aikido master he may have gone up the ranks in the years gone by but am not aware of it and do not mean to disrespect him. Sensei Steven Seagal was also among the first few foreigners allowed to teach a  Japanese martial art in Japan itself.

The cd is made by some of his students and friends. There is one line spoken by one of his students which has always struck me and when I was watching the cd again yesterday night my memory strayed back to the first time I saw the cd. Since he was a foreigner teaching a Japanese art in Japan itself it is said that he had quite a few challengers over the years. In reply to that one of his students in the video says (not the exact words) - It does not matter how many people challenged Sensei what matters is if the challengers could even stand up to Sensei's students.

This line has always struck me. The first time I saw the video I had sort of made up my mind to maintain such high levels of training that no body can ever say that my students are not up to the mark. For having students of such caliber it also implies that I have to push myself personally to train harder and keep improving.

Yesterday while I was watching this video and heard the line again I sort of had an instant introspection of the training I have been imparting for years now. The students training at Jukaado truly live up to the warrior spirit of Bushi and am happy that today any of my students can stand up to any requirement of training, skill or ability required way above their current belt level. As such am not a big fan of giving belts but if I do give a belt then am sure the students are worthy of wearing it.

Often I put the students through grueling training sessions which over the years has had such a great impact on all of them. Even our 5 day training camps are so intense that at times am myself amazed how the students pull through them with a smile on the face and a body full of aches. The intense training imparted at  Jukaado has resulted in all students training regularly to become very fit with extremely high endurance levels and a body hard and conditioned like a rock. Students are easily able to train for 24 hours non stop now that is the level of their fitness and endurance. We have come pretty far but we still have a long way to go with regards to our training.

I feel I have lived up to my decision made 10 years back to maintain very high training levels. Many do run away from my training even today. Some even spread the word like - Go to train there only if you are fed up of living any more. Have actually been asked about this by a person who was inquiring about joining our class. He was told the above line by someone who may have run away from our training but curiosity brought him to class to inquire. Over the years have stopped bothering about the huge number of people that have run away but am content with the great warriors that continue to come back to class every alternate day with a smile knowing very well that they may have aches and pains after the training session.

Runner trapped with two Trekkers

Today was planned to be a good jog with 4 other members of Jukaado. However early in the morning 2 of them had to drop out and I was left with the other 2 members who are more of trekkers than runners. They are gradually coming in to the runner group so they are trekkers in transition.

The Sunday jog is a high intensity hill terrain jog. I have being doing the same route for over 3 - 4 months and have got accustomed to its grueling inclines. However the other 2 members Farida and Sravan were attempting this terrain for the first time and making them jog at my pace would have resulted in them burning out or even causing them lots of aches and pains.

So being outnumbered the runner conceded to the 2 trekkers and walked the full route with them. It was a different experience to walk the same route talking and discussing stuff. Usually it is Prateek and myself huffing and puffing all the way like galloping horses with some small bouts of conversation in between. So to have a decently fast paced walk and just enjoy the view and nature all along the route felt nice.

Change is said to be good and well I do agree it was a nice change from the Sunday ritual.

When I look back a few years and see the transformation that has occurred in all those who have continued to train in Jukaado am left in awe. All these kids, women and men have shown real guts, determination, amazing will power and most importantly have trusted my judgement and training concepts. It is when I see the huge leaps and bounds by which the students have grown and improved that am reassured of the potency and approach of my training concepts. In the last 2 months we have had quite a few women giving training at Jukaado a shot. From all these women there are a few who have really improved and show lots of potential to be Jukaadoka's and even someday be able to successfully complete the grueling black belt gradation of Jukaado. These women are Kiran, Harini, Priya, Poorna and Farida. I sincerely hope that all of them do continue and some day earn their black belt at Jukaado. The amazing part is that 3 of them are in the age group which according to most Indians is way past the age to train so intensively. Yet these women have truly shown grit and determination. This is the spirit that needs to shine from all the women in our country.

All it takes is a Breath.

Breathing a simple involuntary function of our body is very important to us but is often neglected. Our complete body functions because of our breathing.

A single breath can be the difference between Life and Death,

A single breath can be the difference between Rage and Tolerance,

A single breath can be the difference between Chaos and Calm,

A single breath can be the difference between being positive and being negative.

A single breath is all it takes to change our lives.

Think about it every time you get angry your breathing goes up, your heart beats faster and your blood begins to boil. Next time just breath and see your anger neutralize. Am not trying to make hermits or monks out of everyone but trying to reason about something that makes sense.

Why boil our blood or get the body and mind stressed over things we can not control. Most of the time we get angry, stressed, upset or chaotic because of the actions of people around us or those we happen to meet. Well there is nothing you can do about the way people behave. Yes you can yell your lungs out but change will only happen when the person wishes to change. However by getting aggravated we ruin our own health and mental peace.  There is sufficient research to show how good breathing habits can change not only a persons physical health but also his state of mind.

No wonder meditation techniques give so much importance to breathing. Even most fitness workouts emphasize on proper breathing. However one should not just remember their breathing when they meditate or exercise but should remember it always.

Try this out -
No matter what you are doing try to focus on your breathing, do not try to alter it just observe your breathing process. Initially this will test you, will make you think you are losing it to try something like this. As time passes you will slowly be able to be in-sync with your breath. It will be like you are now a part of your own breath.

This is where the transformation will take place. You will be able to see things with more clarity. Your body will start responding the way you have always wanted it to. The body, heart and mind will begin to heal. For a change you will be the master of your own emotions and no matter what people do or how they reciprocate you will not be affected and will maintain your state of calm.

Sounds so simple and in reality it is just as simple as it sounds.

Being in - sync with your breath can be considered to be similar to the  state of meditation. Livening all your senses physical, mental and spiritual.

Let us try to make every breath count.
